March 8, 2010 3:47 PM

Looking for something fun to do this Saturday night? Come to the 2010 St. Patrick's Day Celebration! I'll be there along with all of my local friends watching the bands and enjoying the beach weather.

The celebration will be downtown on ocean boulevard between 8th Avenue North & 11th Avenue North. It's a totally FREE concert with Irish food and beverage vendors. There will be kids games and contests all day along with street performers. The live music starts at 1 PM and the schedule follows:

1:14- 1:45 The Root Soul Project
1:55- 2:35 Lee Travis and the Bounty Hunters
2:55- 3:40 Mark Bryan (from Hootie & the Blowfish)
4:00- 5:00 Blue Dogs
5:20- 6:05 Jonas Sees in Color
6:30- 7:25 Parmalee
7:50- 9:00 Drivin & Cryin
9:25- 10:45 Cracker

It's free entertainment and what more can you ask for than dancing in the street? See you there!

Come see the Miss Myrtle Beach Pageant

March 4, 2010 12:42 PM

Are you interested in Beauty Pageants?

Come to Myrtle Beach this weekend to see the Miss Myrtle Beach Scholarship Pageant. We will be crowning a Miss contestant (age 17-24) and a Teen contestant (age 13-17). If you're like me, I grew up watching Miss America with a notebook in hand and wrote down the states I wanted to win.. Of course, South Carolina was always first! Come out to support the winner that will go on to the Miss South Carolina pageant. Who ever wins Miss South Carolina will go on to Miss America! Let's cheer on our Myrtle Beach girls! They are not only competing for a crown, but also a chance to win the $25,000 cash prize.

When: Saturday, March 6th, 2010
Where: Wheelwright Auditorium at Coastal Carolina
Time: 5 PM

Good luck girls!

I can answer your questions. I have gotten some great questions already. Once I get yours, I'll post it and reply back to you here on my travel expert blog.

Banish Your Burger Craving with the Best on the Beach

February 18, 2010 2:43 PM

Everyone loves a good burger! If you don't, then you're not American! Want the scoop on the local's favorite burger joints in the Grand Strand? You've come to the right place! Here is our list:

1) River City Cafe: This is a laid back dining atmosphere with walls lined with license plates and a friendly wait staff to take your order. Like peanuts? We do too! Feel free to throw your shells on the floor. This is the only place your mom won't say anything! Their extensive menu of burgers (along with other sandwich/salad favorites) will make your mouth water. Definitely check out this place!
Locations in Murrells Inlet, Surfside Beach, Myrtle Beach, and North Myrtle Beach.

2) Burky's Grill: Come into this 1950's diner located in the heart of Myrtle Beach. It might not have the Myrtle Beach pizazz that other places have, but once you taste their burgers, you'll come back everyday. (I know! I live close by!) They also serve delicious hot dogs and milkshakes as well and the price is great.
Location: 3901 North Kings Highway, Myrtle Beach

3) Stadium Club: Like the sports bar atmosphere? This is your place. I'm not kidding when I say, THIS IS THE PLACE TO GET BURGERS (or any other sandwich for that matter). My family used to cook most nights of the week but every Thursday, we went to Stadium Club. This place is definitely not for the calorie watching crowd but hey, you're on vacation! Please visit Stadium Club because you'll be glad you did!
Location: 317 Hwy 17 North, Surfside Beach

4) Five Guys: Famous for their Peanut oil french fries, this Virginia based company has moved south to share the deliciousness with Myrtle Beach. I discovered the Five Guys in Raleigh, NC and was SO excited to hear it was coming to our area. I know its considered a chain now, but still worth being on our list!
Locations: Murrells Inlet and Myrtle Beach

5) Hamburger Joe's: The name pretty much speaks for itself so you KNOW it has to be good. With locations around the Grand Strand, grab your seat quick because these restaurants are packed! This is the perfect place to come grab a burger and then hit the beach.
Locations: Surfside and North Myrtle Beach

So, in conclusion, I hope I have made you hungry. If you want anymore Top Local Favorites, just ask! That's what I'm here for!

House of Blues Presents..

February 16, 2010 12:23 PM

Hey Y'all,
A local and visitor favorite around the beach is the House of Blues. They host many parties and concerts through out the year. Growing up, I feel like I went every weekend! I've seen everything from AFI to Ashlee Simpson! It's definitely a neat hangout with all the old memorabilia hanging around. The website describes some of the history of the Myrtle Beach House of Blues...

"House of Blues Myrtle Beach was built to resemble a Southern farmhouse with adjoining tobacco warehouse. The music hall is sheathed in authentic tin from an old tobacco barn from Jackson Mississippi. In keeping with tradition, the House of Blues Myrtle Beach displays the "Crazy Quilt" and keeps a metal box of mud from the Delta Mississippi underneath its stage."

Some people coming soon that you should know about are:

2/27/2010: Alice In Chains
3/12/2010: REO Speedwagon with Edwin McCain
3/13/2010: Ben Folds
3/25-27/2010: Widespread Panic

Enjoying the music,
Sunni
