6th Annual Paws Across the Water Duck DerbySeptember 11, 2010 Adopt a duck or group of ducks to enter into the Paws Across the Water Duck Race to benefit the Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach. Adoption papers are available at Barefoot Landing merchants, local merchants in the area, the North Myrtle Beach Humane Society and the North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce or on-line at www.humanesocietynmb.org. Activities begin at 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 11. Food, music, vendors and other festivities will take place throughout the day. A business duck race will take place before the actual Duck Derby. Prizes for winning adopted ducks include a $2,500 gift card from Murray Law Offices, PA and a weekend package including three night stay, dinner and a show. Come join the fun and help the animals of the Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach!

NBC’s Inaugural Biggest Loser Event ChallengeSeptember 25, 2010 The Biggest Loser Event Challenge is a nationwide series of 5K and one mile events for Americans of all fitness levels, and the kick-off event is right here in Myrtle Beach on Saturday, September 25. Biggest Loser trainer Bob Harper and past contestants will participate in this inaugural event. The 5K starts at 8:00 a.m. on Ocean Boulevard between Eighth and Ninth Avenues North, runs south along Ocean Boulevard, through Family Kingdom Amusement Park and finishes on the boardwalk near Ninth Avenue North. The one mile challenge starts at 8:30 a.m. on Ocean Boulevard.
OktoberfestOctober 9, 2010 The Oceanfront Merchants Association and the City of Myrtle Beach will sponsor Oktoberfest on Saturday, October 9, on Ocean Boulevard, from Eighth Avenue North to Mr. Joe White Avenue. Admission is free! The festival begins at noon and concludes with a firework show at 10:35 p.m. Ocean Boulevard will showcase both food and art vendors. Look for a Kids Zone in Plyler Park, where kids can enjoy inflatable bounce houses and slides in the play area. |
