New Myrtle Beach Boat Landing
Soon there will be a new Myrtle Beach boat landing for you to take off for your next fishing, Intracoastal exploration or tubing experience. The Horry County Council Infrastructure and Regulations Committee has approved the a brand new 2.3 million dollar park that will feature a boat landing, boardwalk, bike trail, picnic areas and pavilion, fishing pier and other amenities. But don’t worry taxpayers. They say that they will depend on grant writers and private money to come up with the money, so you can take a sigh of relief when it comes to taxes.
The new Myrtle Beach boat landing will be the 29th area boat landing, which may lead to some to ask the necessity of a new Myrtle Beach boat landing. But this boat landing will be a bigger picture in mind. Despite having another boat landing in Socastee, another just eight miles away in Little River, the new Myrtle Beach boat landing will be built as an alternative to the beach.
In order to build the new Myrtle Beach boat launch, they will need a little help from one area business. Horry County is looking to purchase 4.5 acres from Burroughs & Chapin Co. Inc. Without this property they will not be able to complete the park as this is the section they have designated as the main area to host family reunions, cook outs and other large gatherings which will be handled and maintained by The Horry County Parks and Recreation Department. And without the gazebo, walking trails and boardwalk, this will just be another Myrtle Beach boat launch.
The new Myrtle Beach boat landing will be called Interchange Park, and it is said that it will take anywhere between 12 to 18 months to complete… as long as each phase stays on schedule. It has not been announced when construction will begin on Interchange Park, but it will be at least two years before you will be able to take advantage of the brand new Myrtle Beach boat launch.
