Myrtle Beach Named Best Place to Open a Restaurant
The 2009 Nielsen Claritas Restaurant Growth Index is in and for the sixth year in a row, Myrtle Beach is the best place to open a restaurant.
Myrtle Beach topped Flagstaff, Arizona, Atlantic City, New Jersey and Ocean City New Jersey to retain its crown, even as it fell 100 points from the previous year.
"The RGI uses a formula to identify restaurant spending and gaps in spending per capita compared to a national average. The score is calculated on an area’s total restaurant sales and sales as a percent of income, at a per capita level, compared to the nation as a whole." -- RGI
There were several other nearby cities that were vying for the title, Charleston, SC (22) and Burlington, NC (T-24) but neither came close to knocking off the king from it's thrown.
Many have taken note of Myrtle Beach's reputation as the best place to open a restaurant as there have been several new restaurants in Myrtle Beach over the last year.
Ruth's Chris Steak House, Red Robin and New York Pizzeria are only a few new restaurants to pop up in Myrtle Beach over the last 12 months. And as long as Myrtle Beach is recognize as the country's best place to open a new restaurant, they won't be the last.
