"US Airways, with its predecessor Piedmont, has been our longest-serving air carrier at Myrtle Beach International Airport," said Brad Dean, president and CEO of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce. "Currently, they transport the most passengers of all the legacy carriers, so reaching US Airways Magazine readers through such a compelling feature will further spread the word about America's top beach and family destination. Readers will no doubt marvel at the people and places that make each Grand Strand community so appealing and inviting."
The Myrtle Beach area will be featured in the December issue of US Airways Magazine in the 36-page "Keys to the City" profile.
The article will combine travel-related information with a comprehensive look at the economic drivers and industry sectors that shape the business landscapes and lifestyles along the Grand Strand, said Steve Mitchem, vice president of destination publishing for Pace Communications.
The editors, writers and photographers will work with area residents and community leaders in the next month to generate story ideas, he said. Story ideas must be submitted by Oct. 13.
Each month, about 3 million business and leisure travelers read US Airways Magazine, which is available on its flights. In August, 19,899 people flew in to Myrtle Beach on US Airways.
