Downtown Festival to Ring in New Year in Myrtle Beach
MYRTLE BEACH - Rock’N The Beach: South Carolina’s Largest New Year’s Eve Celebration is set to kickoff Thursday afternoon in downtown Myrtle Beach.
The event is a joint partnership between the City of Myrtle Beach, The Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, The Myrtle Beach Area Hospitality Association, The Downtown Redevelopment Corporation, The Horry County Arts and Cultural Council, and Global Attractions Development and Management in partnership with the Andrews Agency
Crews and food vendors were scheduled to begin setting up Wednesday afternoon.
Police will also close several downtown streets for the festival - 8th Ave. N Ocean Blvd to 12th Ave. N Ocean Blvd and 9th Ave. N. Ocean Blvd. to Chester St. to begin barricade setup.
Here is a schedule for the event:
Thursday, December 31st:
12:30 pm to 7:00 pm Kids and Family Fun with on stage local and regional /Jumbotron entertainment
12:30 pm to 12:30 am Vendors Open for Business (Alcohol Sales end 11:30 pm)
12:30 pm to 7:00 pm Kids and Family Fun with on street face painting, characters and performers, sleigh/carriage rides, and attractions. In Plyler Park Arts & Cultural Council “Chalk The Walk” and Collaborative Artist Mural “My 2000’s” Exhibit.
7:00 pm to 9:00 pm Change over for New Year’s Eve on stage entertainment (Downtown Merchants Promotions, TV/Radio Remotes, Jumbotron Promotional Messages)
7:00 pm to 12:30 am Sleigh/Carriage Rides with continuous street entertainment
9:00 pm - Rock’n the Beach Celebration Officially begins
9:00 pm to 12:30 am On stage name entertainment and pre-recorded messages on Jumbotron
10:00 pm - Cab Rides Begin
Friday, January 1, 2010:
12:00 am Horry County Arts and Cultural Council Champagne Toast, Count down, Ball Bounce, Fireworks
